1. PREREQUISITE: ~4 years of undergraduate education.
2. 3 years of law school
3. Passing of your state’s Bar Examination, completion of a character and fitness evaluation, and being sworn in and admitted to the state bar to become an attorney.

You will obtain a bachelor’s degree as a law school prerequisite. Upon graduation from law school, you will earn a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

Undergraduate degree: $100,000–$200,000 total (4 years at $25,000–$50,000/year).
LSAT and law school applications: $1,500–$5,000 (test fees, prep courses, and application costs).
Law school: $120,000–$225,000 total (3 years at $40,000–$75,000/year, including tuition and living expenses).
Bar exam: $3,000–$5,000 (exam fees, bar prep course, and living expenses while studying).
Bar admission and character & fitness evaluation: $500–$1,500 (state bar dues, background checks, and other administrative fees).
Total Average Cost: $225,000–$430,000.
These estimates vary widely based on location, type of school, and whether in-state or out-of-state tuition applies. Scholarships and financial aid may also help reduce costs.
